Amici Just Found Its New Home In BGC With New Dishes To Boot!

Amici just found its new home in BGC with new dishes to boot! Amici is my default place when I want to have a little taste of Italy and it just recently opened its 9th location on the 3rd floor of One Bonifacio High Street just across Shangri-La Hotel and so near where I work! Yahooo! In line with their newest store, Amici also launched limited edition dishes that will surely make your dining experience the most satisfying one and make you savour a taste of Italy and Italian cuisine at its finest.

Amici is an Italian term that means "a friend". When Filipinos come across Amici, many are transported back to the nostalgic times when it first started out as a cafeteria in Don Bosco, Makati. Amici di Don Bosco dates back to 2001 and was founded by Fr. Gianluigi Colombo, a Salesian Italian priest in charge of overseeing the operations of the Don Bosco Makati Printing Press. Fr Colombo introduced Italian coffee and gelato, brick-oven baked pizza and homemade pasta.

News of great Italian cuisine served turo-turo style spread like wildfire, attracting patrons from all walks of life from all over the metro. Customers experienced a certain warmth and charm, where the staff treated every customer with special attention. The legacy of Fr. Colombo providing authentic Italian cuisine for friends and family continues today with the Moran family and Executive Chef Paolo Moran at the helm.

Chef Paolo Moran worked in restaurant kitchens in Florence and Sicily for a year to learn the culinary traditions of true Italian cooking. Here he learned the importance of freshness to bring about the authentic flavors of Italy. Year after year, he, his family and his team create limited edition dishes to spice up their menu. Just yesterday I was one of the lucky few who was able to get dibs on these dishes:

Truffle Mushroom Dip and Crispy Pizza Crusts – a medley of 4 different mushrooms: truffle, porcini, shiitake and button, mixed in a creamy sauce with caramelized onions. This was everyone’s favorite! It was so good and creamy that we ended up devouring three servings of this. We even spread it on the pizza. This can be paired with just about any bread and how we all wish they will sell this in bottles so that we can take them to our homes. *crossing fingers*

Chef’s Chicken Caesar Salad – Chef Paolo’s twist on the classic Caesar Salad, chicken and mixed greens tossed in house Caesar dressing topped with croutons and crunchy Parmesan cheese strips. A very filling appetizer. The dressing was super delectable and those Parmesan cheese strips added so much texture to this salad.

Salmon and Zucchini Pizza – Alfredo sauce base, mozzarella, bacon, zucchini, and smoked salmon flakes. I love all the flavors and textures on this pizza. Salmon? Love! Zucchini? Love!

Shrimp Pesto and Pomodoro – linguine noodles tossed in a sauté of shrimp, garlic and creamy tomato sauce mixed with house pesto sauce. Great seafood flavor in tangy tomato sauce. How an Italian pasta should be!

Striploin Steak Salpicao – tender strips of Sirloin steak cooked with garlic, mushrooms and Salpicao sauce served with rice pilaf. I just adore the garlicky flavor of this dish and the meat was super tender, juicy and tasty!

Mango Magnifico Cake – refreshing mangoes, whipped cream with cashew brittles in light chiffon. Gosh, I can’t even deal with how good this cake was! It’s airy, it’s spongy, it’s sweet, it’s tangy! I love the random cashew brittles that I bite into. Amici’s dessert counterpart Caramia never fails to amaze me with their cakes! This is by far my second favorite cake from Caramia next to their Ube Cake.

Everytime I get to enjoy the dishes and desserts from Amici, it gives me nothing but satisfaction. Of course, their store will always be a place for friends and families because good food is best when shared right? Buon appetito signore e signori! See you there!
